Wiltshire dumped out of MCCA Trophy
Cricket: Wiltshire produced another disappointing performance in their MCCA Trophy group match against Berkshire at Trowbridge on Sunday when they lost by 89 runs and so ended their hopes of qualifying for the quarter finals of the competition.
Berkshire won the toss and batted steadily scoring 212 for 7 wickets off their 50 overs. The main contributors were Jono McLean with 63 and Steven Naylor with 50. For Wiltshire, Alex Senneck took 1 for 18 off his 10 overs, Richard Bedbrook 2 for 31, James Golding 2 for 46 and Rob Travers 1 for 50.
In reply Wiltshire started badly, losing Liam Dawson, Peter Hickerton and James Vince by the time the score reached 25. In the end they were all out for 123 in 41.2 overs with Eddie Abel scoring 24, Michael Coles 23, Richard Bedbrook 23 and Alex Senneck 12. For Berkshire, Craig Crowe took 3 for 30, Carl Crowe 2 for 26 and Paul Carter 2 for 22.
Wiltshire's final group match is against Herefordshire at Kington on Sunday June 1st. Neither side can qualify for the knock out stages of the competition.
Berkshire have now qualified with the second place going to the winner of the Cornwall v Devon match on the same date.
