Paralympic star Dunham wins UK title
Equestrian: Paralympic athlete Anne Dunham has won the first major UK Paradressage title of the season, but must wait until mid-June before finding out whether she has a coveted place on the team for Beijing.
At Friday's UK Spring Championship at Weston Lawns, Warwickshire, Anne came first with a high score of 77.3. But despite her UK win, and victory at the Belgian International Para Dressage Championships at Moorsele in April, her place on the UK Paralympics squad cannot yet be confirmed.
The final selections are on June 8 and 9, at Hickstead in Sussex, and the team will be revealed by selectors on June 16. "It's a nail-biting time, but I'm feeling confident," said Anne, who has multiple sclerosis, this week. "Although Teddy Edwards is a new horse to me, he is performing brilliantly and we are making a great team."
If Anne, from Broad Hinton, wins a place on the Beijing squad, she will be competing in her fourth Paralympics, having picked up gold medals at Atlanta in 1996, Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004.
Anne is sponsored by Swindon and Cirencester-based motor dealer Pebley Beach.
