Thorne appointed new Melksham boss

| Player/boss: Melksham's Wayne Thorne |
Wayne Thorne has been appointed Melksham Town's new manager after Kelvin Highmore was sacked at the weekend.
The veteran left-back steps up from assistant manager to take the top job at the Conigre.
Melksham chairman Mick Perrin explained his reasoning for the appointment and says the club needed fresh impetus.
He said: "Telling Kelvin was probably one of the toughest things I've ever had to do because he's one of the nicest blokes I've ever met in the game.
"I'm sure he felt hard done-by but I felt we needed some freshness right from the top.
"It's a new challenge for Wayne but he's played at a good level so he has a lot of experience and hopefully, extra contacts.
"Obviously it's a challenge to him and we'll see how he gets on."
