Chippenham Harriers competed across the region over the weekend.
Brigid Browne put in a fantastic performance to complete the Marlborough Downs Challenge 33 mile off road race in less than five-and-a-half hours.
After her epic run Browne said: "The views from some of the hills were spectacular. The weather was perfect for running, cool but dry. Though not in the same tough league as the Grizzly or Exe to Axe the terrain was much tougher than that of the Neolithic Marathon, so the tops of some hills required walking.
"Overall I was pleased to run the distance in just under five-and-a-half hours. The atmosphere at the finish was great and there was free nosh for all runners and a nice ceramic mug as a memento. I even won a spot prize (as did most of us) a huge box of peanut Clif bars"
On Saturday at the Shaw and Whitley Stampede, Harriers Andy Holdsworth and Sean Butler were first over 40 and over 50 men respectively. Chippenham also took home the 2nd team prize behind host club. Avon Valley runners.
And to cap a good weekend for Chippenham, Andy Strange and Ian Trussler ran well in the Keynesham 10 km road race on Sunday with Strange running 42 minutes 17 seconds and Trussler 44:03.
